Mbappe scores brace for real Madrid against Villarreal last night

Kylian Mbappé's two goals propelled Real Madrid to a 2-1 comeback victory over Villarreal on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Estadio de la Cerámica.

Villarreal struck first in the 7th minute when Juan Foyth capitalized on a deflected corner to score from close range. Real Madrid responded ten minutes later as Mbappé seized a rebound from Brahim Díaz's blocked shot to net the equalizer. Just six minutes after leveling the score, Mbappé secured his second goal, connecting with Lucas Vázquez's through ball to put Madrid ahead.

This brace not only secured the win but also marked Mbappé's 20th league goal of the season and his 31st across all competitions, surpassing Ronaldo's record of 30 goals in his debut season with Real Madrid during the 2002/03 campaign. Mbappé celebrated this milestone by emulating Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic 'I'm here' pose.

The victory elevated Real Madrid to the top of the LaLiga standings with 60 points, three points ahead of Barcelona, who have a game in hand.

Despite the win, Real Madrid's coach, Carlo Ancelotti, expressed frustration over the tight scheduling, noting the team had less than 72 hours of rest following their Champions League match against Atlético Madrid. He emphasized that the team would not play future matches with such limited recovery time.
