Super Eagles arrives Kigali ahead of Rwanda clash on Friday



The Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, have arrived in Kigali ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda on Friday, March 21, 2025. The team is now complete with all 23 invited players present, following the arrival of midfielder Alhassan Yusuf on Wednesday morning.

Under the guidance of new head coach Éric Chelle, the Super Eagles have commenced intensive training sessions at the Amahoro Stadium to fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming match. The team is determined to secure a victory, especially considering their current position in Group C, where they sit in fifth place with three points from four games.

Team captain William Troost-Ekong emphasized the squad's readiness and motivation, acknowledging the pressure but viewing it as a privilege. He highlighted the importance of respecting Rwanda, who currently lead the group, and focusing on controllable aspects of their game.

The Super Eagles' itinerary includes the match against Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, followed by a home fixture against Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25, 2025. These matches are pivotal for Nigeria's aspirations to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, making a strong performance essential in both encounters.
