Lookman unfollows all Atlanta social media handles and requests for exit
Ademola Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, citing "many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer." This announcement was made via a statement on his social media accounts on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Further demonstrating his strong desire to leave, Lookman has also taken drastic action on his social media platforms. He has reportedly unfollowed Atalanta's official accounts, removed all mention of the club from his bios, and deleted posts and pictures of himself in an Atalanta shirt, including his profile picture, replacing his avatar with a solid black circle. His social media presence now primarily focuses on his national team, Nigeria.
Lookman stated that he and the club ownership had previously agreed that it was the "right time" for him to move on if a fair offer was made. He claims that despite such an offer arriving – widely reported to be from Inter Milan, with bids around €45 million – Atalanta is now blocking the move for reasons he doesn't understand, holding out for a higher fee, reportedly €50 million or more. His current contract with Atalanta runs until June 2027.
