Messi's bodyguard reportedly suspended

 

Lionel Messi's personal bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, has been suspended from all technical areas of the Leagues Cup. This decision was made by the Leagues Cup disciplinary committee following an incident after Inter Miami's match against Club Atlas on July 30, 2025.

Cheuko reportedly entered a restricted zone on the pitch without proper credentials and intervened in a post-match confrontation between Atlas players and team staff, pushing and shoving several players.

This is not the first time Cheuko has faced disciplinary action. He had previously been prohibited from being on the sidelines during Major League Soccer matches, though he continued to be part of the club's security team. The current suspension from the Leagues Cup will last for the remainder of the tournament through August 31, 2025, and Inter Miami has also been issued an undisclosed fine.
