Alex Iwobi Praises Phil Foden but Questions Referee’s Call

Alex Iwobi has spoken about Phil Foden following a recent Premier League clash between Fulham and Manchester City.

What Iwobi said

Iwobi expressed “big respect” for Foden’s quality as a player, calling him a “big baller.”

However, he also questioned the referee’s decision not to send Foden off after a strong tackle on Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey, which left Bassey in pain.

Iwobi suggested the challenge might have deserved a red card, adding that such a decision could have given Fulham an advantage in the match.

Context of the match

Manchester City went on to win the game 3–0, with first-half goals sealing the result.

Despite the controversy, Iwobi acknowledged the result was final and said the team must move on and focus on future games.

     Summary:

Iwobi both praised Foden’s ability and character while simultaneously criticising the officiating over the tackle on Bassey—showing respect for the player but frustration with the decision.
