Arsenal Midfielder Opens Up On Playing For Nigerian National Football Team

“I’m Nigerian”, Ethan Nwaneri sparks Super Eagles speculation

EPL: I’m Nigerian – Arsenal midfielder, Nwaneri opens door to Super Eagles

Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri has stirred excitement among Nigerian football fans after openly acknowledging his heritage in a recent interview. He said:

“Yes, I know. I’m Nigerian, and I am here to help the team as much as possible.”

Why this is a big deal 🇳🇬

Nwaneri was born in England to a Nigerian father and an English-French mother, making him eligible to represent multiple countries internationally.

Although he has already played for England at youth level, he has not yet committed at senior level—so Nigeria could still secure him for the Super Eagles.

His public statement about being Nigerian has renewed speculation and excitement about a possible switch to Nigeria’s national team.

Current club situation

The young midfielder recently moved on loan to Marseille in search of more regular playing time and has already made appearances and scored.

If he eventually chooses Nigeria, he would join a list of dual-nationality stars who committed to the Super Eagles—something many fans are hoping for.
