Recent reports about a pregnant woman officiating a women’s youth football match 

 The match involved a Cameroonian assistant referee named Adeline Djonriba.

What happened

Adeline Djonriba, who was nearly five months pregnant, served as an assistant referee during a Uganda vs Zambia match in qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. 

The game ended 1-1, and her visible pregnancy sparked strong reactions online—some people saw risk, while others praised her courage and dedication. 

Djonriba is already a respected official and had been named Best Assistant Referee at the 2025 Cameroonian Ballon d’Or ceremony.
